You must apply for a tax deduction card if you’re going to work

You must bring:

Do you work for an EU/EEA company and have been sent on an assignment to Norway? Then you must also bring a confirmation of the assignment.

You must undergo an ID check if you're going to carry out business activity in Norway

You can start your own business in Norway if you're going to carry out business activity here. To start a sole proprietorship (ENK), you must register it in the Brønnøysund Register Centre. You must have a Norwegian identification number (national identity number or D number). If you do not have a Norwegian identification number, you can apply for a D number at the same time as you register your sole proprietorship. When you've received your D number, you must attend an ID check. You must bring:

  • a passport or national identity card

Registering a sole proprietorship (brreg.no)

 

You must report a move to Norway if you’re going to stay here for more than six months

You must bring:

  • a passport or national identity card
  • the completed form Notification of a move to Norway (skatteetaten.no)
  • supporting documents showing that you'll be living in Norway for at least six months. This could, for example, be a contract for the purchase or rental of a property, an employment contract, a confirmation of assignment from a staffing agency, or a confirmation that you're a student.

If your supporting documents are older than three months, you should also bring a confirmation showing they’re still valid.
