The Labour Inspection Authority, the Police, the Tax Administration, and the Directorate of immigration have established several Service Centres for Foreign Workers in Norway. Both the employers and the employees can obtain information and initiate a fast-track handling of applications at the Service Centre.
The Service Centre’s staff speaks several languages. The Service Centre has been established to serve:
- citizens of the Nordic countries
- persons covered by the EU/EEA regulations in the foreigners act
- people with qualifications as a skilled worker and specialists,
- family members and employers of the abovementioned groups of people
- unskilled workers from the Barents Region
- cross-border commuters living in the Barents Region
At the Service Centre you may:
- apply for residence permit/ register yourself in accordance to the Foreigners Act
- apply for the tax deduction card and obtain a D-number in this case
- hand in notification of immigration to the Population Register or change your address inside the country
- obtain information on rights and obligations as an employee in Norway
- Obtain information on identity cards for building and construction sites
Case processing time
Our aim is that applications that are filled in correctly include all the necessary documentation and meet the statutory requirements should be processed in the period of short time. The processing for the applications that do not meet these requirements will take longer time.
